:: About - Lou Haskell

Though educated as an Electrical Engineer, I've been writing software for 40 years. Most of my career was with AT&T Bell Laboratories developing large software systems that manage telecommunications networks. I've been a developer, a manager, a software architect, a consultant, and a teacher.

During a personally rewarding career, I acted as developer, architect, or project manager for over a dozen telecomminications projects for AT&T and the Bell System. During the 90's I managed a team of top managers and systems architects recruited from across the company. We performed Architecture Reviews and taught an Architecture Course to senior developers. Over a period of about 10 years, there were hundreds of reviews conducted which highlighted issues for the team and, through early identification, saved the company millions of dollars. Our team members were also often called upon to lead remediation efforts for high profile projects after problematic reviews. For this work I was honored to receive the 1993 AT&T Bell Laboratories Fellow award, the top technical award in the company.
In addition to architecture work, I also served as a member of Project Management Audit teams which assessed an organization's ability to properly manage a project to successful deployment.

One of my additional responsibilities in my division was running the desktop computing services for our department. Our team designed, implemented, and operated a set of servers and desktops for a diverse organization of over 100 engineers and administrators.

I recently became an adjunct faculty member in the Computer Science department at Franklin University.
